Would any one be able to tell me the approximate price on a "basic" John Deere 4100 tractor is? And just what is included in a basic JD4100? I am looking at one and I have no idea what is included with a "basic tractor". "Basic tractor" is all of the info I can get at this time.

Thanks, Steve

To the best of my knowledge, they came in two versions: Gear(manual trans) and hydrostatic.

They are pretty much complete and there is not a whole raft of options or add-ons to the basic machine.

In order to guess a price it would be good to know the total hours, year of manufacturer, general condition and how it is equipped (tires, transmission, any included implements). ....

Mark, The tractor is new but I have no idea whether it's gear or hydro tranny, or what type of tires are on it. The gentleman that has the tractor is out of the country and that is all that I know. Say if was a new 4100 with no or low hours, with gear drive and stock tires (bar I think) and no implements what would be a ball park figure on it? Is there only one option of motor for the 4100?

Thanks, Steve ....

I bought my JD4100 Gear two years ago. The list price at the time (tractor only, ag tires) was $13,926 and I paid $10,969

The hydro tranny would have bumped the price up about $1,500 or so.

That was a little high, but it was my first tractor purchase and I had not yet found this web site.

All 4100's have the same engines. The newer models have different specs: 4010 has less, 4110 the same and 4115 has more horses. They are all 4wd and all have mid and rear PTO's

I think JD stopped making the 4100 about six months ago so it would be interesting to get the story on the one you are looking at.

I saw a 4100, HST, SCV, 60" belly deck, 95 hours advertised for $8700. I just got my 2210, but I would have really looked that unit over if the timing would have been different. You might try looking under lawnpower.com those guys always have a ton of equipment, plus you can get a good idea of price. ....

Thanks for your replies. I suppose I can let the cat out of the bag now that the auction is over. This item http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2314042014 was posted on ebay and all the information that I could get is that it was New. I didn't feel that I had enough information to shell the $5800. :(

Again, I appreciate the help! Steve ....
